CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS: Berkshire Encyclopedia of Extreme Sport

Call for contributors - Berkshire Encyclopedia of Extreme Sport
Berkshire Publishing Group is looking for authorities to write an article or two for the Berkshire Encyclopedia of Extreme Sport which Berkshire Publishing Group will be publishing later this year.

The goal of the book is to bring together in one volume all that we know about extreme sports, the fastest growing segment of the sports world. The volume will cover dozens of extreme sports—past and present, provide profiles of athletes and venues, and also cover the research literature on the nature of extreme sports.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the community of extreme sports specialists coming together to produce a comprehensive reference work combining modern extreme sports with historical and cross-cultural aspects, as well as an in-depth look at the meaning of extreme. We welcome contributions from authorities and enthusiasts on extreme sports and will be glad to provide you with detailed writing guidelines and sample articles.

We currently have articles available in Modern Extreme Sports (ranging between 2000-4000 words), Cross-cultural/Historical Extreme Sports (3000 words), Themes (4000 words), Biographies (500 words), and Venues/Locations (500 words).

All contributors assigned to write 2,500 words or more will receive a complimentary copy of the Berkshire Encyclopedia of Extreme Sport, which we expect to retail at about US$125, and those who write 6,000 words or more will also receive a modest honorarium or a complimentary volume or set of another Berkshire publication. All articles will be peer-reviewed by the board of editors under the direction of Douglas Booth and Holly Thorpe (University of Waikato, New Zealand), and authors will be fully acknowledged in the published work.
Please see the list of entries that remain unassigned at the bottom of this letter. If you are interested in writing any of the articles on the list, send a message indicating which article(s) you’re interested in writing, along with a paragraph about your position, experience in world sport, and major relevant publications (we do not need a CV at this stage), to our project coordinator, Cassie Lynch, at cassie@berkshirepublishing.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

With best regards,
David Levinson
