Lord Aberdare Literary Prize for Sports History for books published in 2005
The Lord Aberdare Literary Prize for Sports History is awarded every year by
the British Society of Sports History to the best book on sports history in
Britain or the best book on sports history written by a British author.
Exceptional books on sport in other parts of the English-speaking world can
also be considered.
Publishers wishing any of their books to be considered for the prize should
send one copy of the book to each of the below judges.

Please ensure that any books sent are marked "For consideration for BSSH
book prize".
The decision is made by a subcommittee of the BSSH executive. The author of
the successful book is awarded £200.
The winner of the award for books published in 2004 was Simon Martin,
Football and Fascism: The National Game under Mussolini (Berg, 2004).
