Health: Department of Health and Human Performance Chairperson. Applicants are invited for a 12-month, tenure-track position of Department Chair, Department of Health and Human Performance at The University of Tennessee at Martin. The Department of Health and Human Performance offers a B.S. in Health and Human Performance with concentrations in Exercise Science; Fitness and Health Promotion; Licensure K-12; Sports Management and Athletic Training. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate in a discipline included in the department curricula; successful teaching experience at the collegiate level with public elementary and/or secondary school teaching experience preferred; eligibility for appointment at the rank of associate professor; demonstration of or potential for success in administration; supervision, and leadership; strong interpersonal and communication skills; thorough command of curriculum development processes; commitment to recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty and student body; commitment to scholarship and service; experience with NCATE and CAAHEP processes preferred; experience with state regulatory agency concerning teacher licensure preferred. Responsibilities include administration of the Department of Health and Human Performance; academic leadership; administering instructional programs and student recruitment.
The position appointment date is January 1, 2006 or August 1, 2006 dependent upon successful candidate availability.
