SYMPOSIUM: Historians on Sport 2005

Historians on Sport 2005

The International Centre for Sports History and Culture is pleased to announce that the fifth annual ‘Historians on Sport’ symposium will be held on Saturday, 29 October here at De Montfort University, Leicester.

The speakers will be:
- Professor Callum Brown, Dundee University, author of ‘The Social History of Relgion in Scotland since 1730’.
- Dr Lawrence Goldman, St Peter’s College Oxford, editor of the ‘Oxford Dictionary of National Biography’.
- Dr Trevor Griffiths, Edinburgh University, author of ‘The Lancashire Working Class, 1880-1930’.
- Dr Joanna de Groot, York University, author of ‘Doing Things Differently? Problems and Prospects for Women's Studies in the 1990s’.
- David Kynaston, author of ‘The City of London’.
- Dr Douglas Reid, Hull University, author of ‘The Decline of Saint Monday’.
- Professor Gareth Williams, University of Glamorgan, author of ‘Fields of Praise’.

The symposium will start at 10.30 am and will be held in the Clephan Building at DMU.

Cost is £25 and will include tea, coffee and buffet lunch.
