Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Sport Management
The Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at The College at Brockport – SUNY is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management to begin August, 2013.
Background: The Department of KSSPE maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses five majors (Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Physical Education Teacher Education, and Sport Management). Duties: 1) Teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes in Sport Management 2) advise undergraduate majors in Sport Management 3) maintain an active program of scholarship; 4) provide service to the college.
Required Qualifications: 1) An earned doctorate degree in Sport Management or a related field (ABD candidates will be considered, but must earn their doctoral degree within 6 months of hire); 2) advise undergraduate majors in Sport Management and/or graduate Sport Management/Athletic Administration students; 3) ability to teach selected undergraduate Sport Management courses or related courses such as Administrative Practices, Research, Marketing, Promotions, Public Relations, Publicity, Fundraising, Administration of Intramurals, or others, depending on the expertise of the individual; 4) ability to teach selected graduate Athletic Administration or related courses such as Issues in Athletic Administration and Physical Education, Marketing, Fundraising; 5) ability to teach a diverse student body; 6) the ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda; and 6) the ability to provide service to the college community.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Previous college level teaching experience in Sport Management; 2) previous record of publications; 3) previous record of service; 4) Sport Management and/or Athletic Administration leadership experience; 5) experience in international and/or study abroad programs related to Sport Management.
