JOB: Assistant Professor of Sport Studies/ Sport Management

Position: Assistant Professor of Sport Studies/ Sport Management

The Department of Kinesiology, Sports Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at The College at Brockport – SUNY is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Studies/ Sport Management to begin August, 2013.
Background: The Department of KSSPE maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses five majors (Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Physical Education Teacher Education, and Sport Management). Students in all of these majors take one or more courses in Sport Studies as part of their program of study. Visit the department website at www.brockport.edu/pes for more information.
Duties: 1) Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Sport Studies and/or Sport Management and oversee graduate culminating projects; 2) maintain an active program of scholarship; and 3) provide service to the college.
Required Qualifications: 1) An earned doctorate degree in Sport Studies and/or Sport Management-related field (ABD candidates will be considered, but must earn their doctoral degree within 6 months of hire); 2) the ability to teach courses in Sport Studies and/or Sport Management; 3) the ability to teach a diverse student body; 4) the ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda; and 5) the ability to provide service to the college.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Previous college level teaching experience in Sport Studies and/or Sport Management; 2) ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport Studies and/or Sport Management such as History of Sport, Sport and Society, Psychology of Sport, Coaching, Administrative Practices, Research Marketing, Promotions, Public Relations, Administrations of Intramurals, and others depending upon the expertise of the individual; 3) previous record of publications in a sport studies field.
