On Wednesday 20th September 2006 the Institute of Youth Sport and the
Institute of Sport and Leisure Policy, Loughborough University, are hosting
a conference on 'Researching Youth Sport: Diverse Perspectives'. The
conference will examine research across a wide range of themes including
youth development through sport, youth sport and diversity, youth sport and
inclusion, promoting physical activity among young people, and the use of
sport in international development. We are pleased to be joined by The
Chelsea School, University of Brighton, who will be offering a specialist
theme on 'Lifestyle Sports'. We are delighted to have secured a strong
line-up of presenters with extensive and diverse experience and we hope that
you and your colleagues will be able to join us for what promises to be a
day of stimulating and high quality debate.
Early-bird reduced registration fees are available until 12th June. Full details about the conference, including the outline programme, are also available at our website www.youthsportconf.org.uk . The conference website also includes information
about accommodation for those wishing to stay in the area before or
following the conference. If you have any queries, please direct them to our
Conference Administrator, Shane Collins: S.E.Collins@lboro.ac.uk
Delegates with an involvement in Leisure Studies may also be interested in
attending the Leisure Studies journal's 25th Anniversary celebration event.
This takes place at the same venue immediately following the Researching
Youth Sport Conference, starting with a celebratory evening dinner on
Wednesday 20th September and an academic symposium on Thursday 21st.
Further details can be obtained from Shane Collins: S.E.Collins@lboro.ac.uk
Please circulate this information to colleagues within and outside your own
institution who may be interested in these events. We hope to see you at
Loughborough in September.
