CONFERENCE: Bodies of Knowledge (Grad)

Bodies of Knowledge:
A Multi-Disciplinary Conference in Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Health.

Call for Papers

The students in the Graduate Department of Exercise Sciences at the University of Toronto are pleased to announce a two-day graduate student conference. The conference will be held in Toronto and is scheduled for the weekend of May 6 and 7, 2006. This event is being hosted by the Faculty of Physical Education and Health at the University of Toronto, organized and run by graduate students.

Now in its third year, this multi-disciplinary conference has brought together graduate students from across Canada and the United States to present their research in the behavioural, biophysical, and sociocultural study of physical activity.

In addition to disciplinary sessions in the behavioural, life, and social sciences, this year’s program will again include an engaging keynote speaker, a wine-and-cheese reception and informal social events for all! Our hope is that this conference will continue to foster connections among graduate students whose research shares an interest in the issues relating to the broad landscape of health, physical activity and sport studies. As with previous years, the goal will be to keep the costs for conference attendees reasonable.

Conference attendees will come from universities across Canada and abroad, representing a wide variety of disciplines. These may include, but are not limited to:

Biomechanics
Motor learning
Cultural studies
Nutrition
Dis/ability studies
Philosophy and ethics
Education and curriculum studies
Physiology

Sexual diversity studies
