Faculty of Science
Professorship in Social and Cultural Theory of Sport
At the Centre for Sport Science a professorship in social and cultural theory of sport will be available from January 1, 2006 or as agreed.
The Centre for Sport Science is responsible for research and teaching in sport science in the broadest sense. The centre will be expanding and moving to new buildings in 2007, and in this connection it aims to develop its research and teaching capacities in cultural and social theory of sport. The new professor will thus be expected to contribute positively to developing the research and teaching activities of the Centre for Sport Science so that a dynamic and productive research and educational environment of national and international standing can be created.
The selection committee will emphasize the strength of the candidate’s qualifications in the humanities and social sciences. The candidate’s research does not necessarily have to lie within social and cultural theory of sport, but through his or her research the candidate must be able to document the potential to further develop this area.
The candidate will also be assessed on the basis of his or her ability to exchange knowledge with society (interpreted broadly) as well as on teaching and research qualifications.
Applications must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, a complete list of publications,
a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching qualifications and management experience, all in 4 copies (see http://www.nat.au.dk/stilling/cv for the recommended level of detail). All other material that the applicant wishes to be considered in the evaluation (publications and other documentation of research and teaching qualifications, as well as management experience) must be enclosed in 3 copies.
The Faculty refers to the Ministerial Order No. 170 of 17.03.2005 ((http://www.au.dk/da/21-05.htm) on the appointment of teaching and research staff at the universities under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Unions.
Applications should be addressed to The Faculty of Science, University of Aarhus, Ny Munkegade, Building 1520, DK-8000 Aarhus C, Denmark, and marked 211/5-11.
The deadline for receipt of all applications is October 31, 2005, at 12,00 noon.
