Assistant Professor in Sport Psychology and Youth Sport
The School of Kinesiology and Health Studies, Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s University, Kingston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in sport psychology and youth sport with a preferred starting date of 01 July 2015, subject to budgetary approval.
The School is seeking an innovative researcher and committed teacher who, through demonstrated excellence in both teaching and scholarship, will contribute to the strength and depth of the Kinesiology and the Physical and Health Education programs in the School.
Applications are invited from candidates who can provide evidence of scholarship in the area of sport psychology and youth sport. It is expected that the successful candidate will a) contribute to teaching core courses within our Physical Education and Kinesiology programs related to sport and exercise psychology and physical activities for children; b) develop an independent research program; and c) collaborate in the School’s research and service activities.
Candidates should have a PhD completed at the start date of the appointment. The main criterion for selection is academic and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the School’s programs. Transnational expertise is particularly sought after. Candidates must also provide evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to make substantive contributions through service to the School, to the Faculty, to the University, and/or the broader community. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
