NC State Doctoral Research Assistantship Opportunity - Sport and Sustainable Development:
The Health and Well-being Research Group in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management (PRTM) is seeking a highly qualified candidate who is committed to pursuing a Ph.D. starting August 2015. Candidates should have a strong desire to engage in high-quality research focused on sport in the context of sustainable development. Specifically, the qualified student should have an interest in researching the communicative, sociological, and political economic aspects of sport and sustainable development. Advised by Dr. Kyle Bunds, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interdisciplinary research projects involving regional, national, and international sport-based development. Those applying should have an interest in working with state of the art equipment in the Center for Geospatial Analytics (http://geospatial.ncsu.edu), including working with immersive virtual reality systems, tangible geospatial modeling, SimTable modeling, and other immersive technologies (http://geospatial.ncsu.edu/ labs/#geovisualization-lab).
The assistantship is a 12-month 20-hour per week position that includes a competitive stipend, tuition, and health insurance benefits. Funds for professional development purposes (e.g., conference presentations) will be provided. This position is renewable each year based on satisfactory progress.
