Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the College administrator responsible to the Vice-President of Instruction for the leadership, management and development of the Physical Education/Athletics/Dance Division.

As College Administrator

Recommend personnel actions to the Vice-President of Instruction;
Coordinate hourly and full time staffing activities;
Work with faculty to develop curriculum and apply current methods of instruction, including computer-assisted instruction and development of student learning outcomes;
Plan and administer the division budget;
Develop, recommend and implement the division's class schedule;
Coordinate preparation of catalog and brochure materials for the division;
Seek grant proposals and other funding opportunities;
Provide articulation/liaison with other colleges, student and community groups;
Serve on designated college and district committees;
Participate actively with other administrators to address college-wide concerns;
Establish and maintain close relations with local high schools;
Interact with Facilities Department to ensure instructional and athletic facilities are properly maintained;
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice-President of Instruction.
As Athletic Director

Represent the college in matters related to intercollegiate athletics;
Administer all phases of the athletic program;
Represent the athletic program to the community and other relevant organizations;
Oversee the eligibility processes and observing of COA regulations and NCAA transfer guidelines;
Supervise and manage all athletic events.
Desirable Skills and Attributes
The screening committee will select candidates for interview from among those applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, give evidence of:

Successful teaching and/or coaching experience, preferably at the community college level, in physical education/athletics/dance or a related discipline;
Involvement, initiative, and leadership in instructional activities;
Ability to organize and coordinate diverse instructional programs;
Ability to elicit and bring focus to recommendations from division faculty;
Ability to represent effectively the division and its goals at college and district levels;
Organizational skills to facilitate the development and administration of curriculum, budget, staff development, and performance evaluation;
Ability to manage the division office and other support services;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
An awareness of and commitment to shared governance;
An awareness of fund raising and grant writing;
Familiarity with and willingness to expand the use of computer based technology;
Ability to organize, orchestrate, and facilitate the activities of a dynamic athletic program;
Working knowledge of the NCAA transfer guidelines and the COA rules and regulations.
Experience or the ability to plan, develop and maintain new physical education/athletics and dance facilities

Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited institution in a subject that is taught in the division. OR the Equivalent.
One year of formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the managerial assignment, which may, but need not be, concurrent with the required full time service; OR holds a California Community College Supervisor Credential.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and constructively with people who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities. Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with physical or learning disabilities. JOB: Senior Lecturer in Sport Studies, Univ of New Hampshire

SENIOR LECTURER POSITION IN SPORT STUDIES


The Department of Kinesiology at the University of New Hampshire seeks a Senior Lecturer in Sport Studies. Position responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester, committee work, advising, and appropriate involvement in scholarship. The position also includes leadership of the Department’s Center for the Advancement of Sport and Community, whose mission is to gather, generate, analyze, and distribute knowledge about the role of sport in the development of community, which we take to include the development of social, physical, human, and economic capital in an environment of positive and diverse social relations.

In particular, the position responsibilities would include:

· Revising course outlines (and teaching courses) in KIN 561 (History of American Sport and Physical Culture); KIN 562 (Introduction to Sports Media Relations); KIN 580 (The Sport Industry), to focus more attention on public policy initiatives related to the Center’s mission.

· Serving as a liaison with New Hampshire schools and other public and not-for-profit agencies to identify and develop and supervise internships, volunteer experiences, and service-learning course components related to the Center’s mission.

· Serving as a liaison with UNH Athletics to promote their program’s involvement in Center activities.

· Developing and maintaining a web site dedicated to identifying and promoting public policy initiatives in community-building through sport.

· Monitoring the new Sport Studies curriculum rule requiring majors to complete at least 150 hours of sport service prior to enrollment in KIN 761 (Senior Seminar).

Position Requirements:
· PhD in History, Public Policy, Political Science, Sport Studies, or related discipline required.
· Experience in sport industry and in public policy arenas required.
· Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and students as well as community groups of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

Required qualifications: Earned doctorate in Exercise and Sport Science/Kinesiology or related area; demonstrated record of nationally recognized scholarship, external funding and excellence in teaching meriting the rank of full professor with tenure. Preferred Qualifications:

interdisciplinary collaborations).
