Position:
The College of Health Professions invites applications for a tenure-track, 10-month Assistant
Professor position in Sports Management specializing in Physical Cultural Studies and Sociocultural
aspects of sports in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2016.
Qualifications:
Earned doctorate with a research component in an area of Physical Cultural Studies, Sociocultural
Kinesiology. 3-5 years of full-time collegiate teaching experience in the related areas of
physical cultural studies and sport history. Evidence of excellent teaching in higher education.
An established record of teaching writing-intensive courses. Established scholarly activity
including peer-reviewed publications; with the potential for external funding. Strongly preferred
willingness to engage in service learning projects and community partnerships as part of research
and teaching agenda. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
Faculty assigned an instructional workload of six (6) course units per academic year for the first
year. Beginning the second year the workload reverts back to the standard instructional workload
of seven to eight (7-8) course units. Teach courses primarily at the undergraduate level in
physical cultural studies and sport history including theory and writing intensive courses.
Conduct scholarly activities including publications in peer-reviewed journals and seek external
funding. Advise undergraduate students in the department and contribute to the service missions
of the department, college and university.
